Korean society [part 1] music industry and the cult of beauty

I'm going to talk here about general problems in korean society and also the music industry.

How the new singers and groups are made, how does it work exactly, because behind all the glitters things and perfection of those stars and dances there's not a candy world, but a much darker reality.

For recruiting the new stars of tomorrow, the system is based on training people like machines for . The rare people who are choosen and pass the audition in big agency become what we call « trainee ». Trainees are girls and boys trained for years and years into an agency hoping that one day the boss will let them start a carreer as a singer, but also model, dancer and actor. Many candidates but only few élues. Even if you try as harder as you can it doesn't mean you'll reach your dream one day, of course when you become a trainee you can say goodbye to school and your social life too.

They work night and day learning dance and singing, work out, strict diet to lose weight almost starving depends of the agency, they have surgery, there's only few hours for relax.. and sleep.

Injures and abuses happen oftenly, there's many scandals about superior abusing idols in their own agency, but in korea the notion of hierarchy is really important, the boss is like a king, a tyrant.

The concept of perfection is so much strong there that you can't even imagine how is it compare to france.

It is not surprising in a country that preaches the competition in every thing, you must be the more beautiful/handsome, it lead to the number one country of surgery. There's adds for surgery everywhere in trains stations or near schools and flyers. And it is really okay. Many parents pay surgery operation for their childs when they graduate to university as a « gift », and the « argument » to this is that they want to give to their childs the best chances to get a job.
